[12/17] 'NEW FOR 2002' PAGE UP (Website news)

Today, I installed a 'New for 2002' page on the site. The new page will have all info on the new Superman-themed B&M flyer coming to the park. So go check it out! Also, in the past few days we had our 1000 hit! Thank you so much!

[12/11] RCDb RELEASES SUPERMAN'S STATS

In the past week, RCDb has released SFoG's newest coaster stats, while calling it "Unknown." I talked to the webmaster of RCDb, Duane Marden, and he said his source for his stats would remain anonymous, but his source is very accurate, and 90% of his stats come from this source.
These are the stats for Superman:

-2760 feet long
-106 feet high
-100 foot drop
-2:00 minutes long
-2 inversions, with one being a "World's First"
-3 trains-4 across
-Twin stations

The stats prove it is a a "typical" SFoG coaster, yet people do not see the pros of this ride. The pros of the ride are:

-SFoG will have the first American B&M flying coaster
-A brand new inversion
-A new theme and section to the park
-The coaster can use terrain and tunnels to its advantage

No matter what, this coaster will be good. Hopefully, B&M and SFoG have planned a better machine than Vekoma did with Deja Vu. Unfortuantly, we have to wait and watch.

[12/11] MINDBENDER, GEORGIA CYCLONE WIN 2001 GOLDEN TICKET

Amusement Today has released their annual Golden Ticket awards, and once again, SFoG's Mindbender and Georgia Cyclone are winners. The Mindbender placed 17 on the 'Top 25 Steel Coasters,' while Georgia Cyclone placed 16 in the 'Top 25 Wooden Coasters.' Also, the 'Best Park' award went to Cedar Point, located in Sandusky, Ohio. Also, The RiverView Carousel placed third in the 'Best Carousels' category.

[11/21] THIRD'S A CHARM: SFoG PLANS FOR 3RD B&M COASTER

At the IAAPA festival in Orlando last week, B&M said the new Superman-themd coaster for SFoG will be made by them. They did not say if it will be a flying coaster or speed coaster, which are the two most likely options for SFoG to get. Many rumors have said the flying coaster will be much like AIR at Alton Towers, which is B&M's only other flying coaster which is still in construction. Who knows? Im just glad it's a B&M. Im glad for whatever SFoG gets, but I hope its a B&M speed coaster, but the flyer would be different and SFoG would have "bragging rights."

[10/28] SFoG CLOSES FOR SEASON

We got more bad news! SFoGfinally shut down the park after an above-average season. This year was SFoGsest in a long time, in my opinion. We'll see you next spring on our hopeful new B&M flying coaster!

[10/16] DEJA VU ACCIDENT!

Deja Vu, our newest coaster, again has problems. It seems it had an accident yesterday invloving the station brakes. No one was injured, but it was closed for the remainder of the year. It will probably stay closed for the rest of the year. SFoGetter take a serious look at this ride's future.

[10/8] FRIGHT FEST IN FULL FORCE

Six Flags parks around the nation started Fright Fest last week. SFOG has 2 haunted houses which I can't place the names. Since Fright Fest has begun, SFOG will now be open on Friday's along with Saturday's and Sunday's.

[10/6] VIPER ALMOST COMPLETELY GONE

SFOG is just about 100% complete on the Viper's destruction. All of the coaster is gone, along with some theming and station. Viper's new home is reported to be the small Six Flags park, Six Flags America, in Maryland. We do not have word yet where it will be located at the park, nor if it will have new name, theme, etc.

[9/10] VIPER TO CLOSE SUNDAY

SFOG has finally confirmed that it will close its Schwartzkopf shuttle loop coaster, Viper, Sunday Septmember 16. It will run until 6:00PM to the public, but will stay on so ACE members can take the last few rides on the popular coaster. It will take its last run at 8:30PM, Sunday. There has been speculation that we could see a Superman-themed hyper-coaster there, but that has not been confirmed. We shall wait and see.

[8/31] DEJA VU TO HAVE "OFFCIAL" OPENING TOMORROW

Deja Vu, Six Flags Over Georgia's newest coaster, will finally open to the public on Saturday, September 1st. Last week, on August 25th, SFOG opened Deja Vu for the very first time to the public at around 6:00PM. After many delays, the highly anticipated Deja Vu shall open tomorrow.

[8/31] ATLANTA TO GET A NEW THEME PARK?

A group of ex-Walt Disney Co. executives and local investors is floating a proposal for a massive transportation-oriented theme park that would be one of metro Atlanta's biggest attractions.

Atlanta Theme Attractions Group, which would develop and operate the park, has been working with a number of Atlanta buisnesspeople to identify the site for the park, Mark Boyd, the group spokesman, said Thursday. Boyd refused to identify his local partners.

An Atlanta air-show producer who origated the idea for the park, Boyd said he has an option on land off I-75 near Locust Grove in south Henery County and hopes to open the attraction in the summer of 2004. He intends to connect the park to Undergrouund Atlnata by steam lococmotive.

With an amusement park, water park, concert vinues and a collection of planes, trains and automobiles covering 1,000-acres, the park would nearly be 3 times the size of Six Flags Over Georgia. It also would create about 3,000 jobs and have discounted on-site apartments for its employees, Boyd said.

Six Flags Over Georgia, be concerned, for the first time ever, you might have a little competion.

ACRES OF FUN

How size of proposed theme park compares:

Proposed Park: 1,000 acres
*Universal Studios (Orlando): 444 acres
Six Flags Over Georgia: 375 acres
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay: 355 acres
Disneyland (California): 230 acres
**Disney's Magic Kingdom (Orlando): 107 acres

*Does not include Islands of Adventure
**Walt Disney World near Orlando comprises more than 30,000 acres

*[8/22]HAUNTED HOUSES, FREE FALL, VIPER NEWS

Seems maps at SFOG are now pointing the way to the haunted house that is being built at the old Astro Skylift location. Mostley, the haunted houses have been behind The Great American Scream Machine, but appears to have moved this year. Also, there might be a haunted walk behind the Viper this year, but hasn't been confirmed.

After a short period of time, the Free fall is back up and running smoothely. The falling ride was down because of brake problems.

Also, there have been no more recnet reports about the Viper, but there are still survey flags behind it (the same ones we saw last year where Deja Vu stands now). Also, Superman souvenirs are being sold at Swampwater Jack's store (Viper souvenir store) and at the Batman store. Will a new themed-ride be a Superman?

[8/13] SFOG ENDS DAILY OPERATION

Yesterday, August 12th was the last day of SFOG's daily operation, but will be open on Saturday's and Sunday's. Hours vary.

BRIEF HISTORY...Was Tidal Wave at Six Flags Great America before becoming Viper--Closed permanetley at 8:30PM September 16, 2001--New home: ???

The Viper was a very fun coaster, that got your adrenaline puming. It may have been short, but it isn't tame. I loved this ride because 99.9% of the time you could walk through the well themed queue line and walk right on the coaster. I will sorely miss The Coaster that Strikes Twice and the excellent theming that surrounded it. The little coaster had the best theming and its on store. Must have been could. I hopes you enjoyed this coaster.
